Simulated Accident Assumed, Pan-Governmental Collaboration System Confirmed
Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power conducted the '2024 3rd READY Korea Drill' on the 25th at the Saeul Nuclear Power Headquarters in Ulju-gun, Ulsan, under the supervision of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
The READY Korea Drill is a large-scale exercise in which the government and private sector jointly inspect their preparedness to respond to large-scale and complex disasters caused by potential risk factors.
On this day, more than 2,200 people from 48 major organizations, including the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, participated in the drill. They simulated an earthquake-related accident and focused on inspecting the situation reception and dissemination system, as well as the timely operation of crisis response organizations as if it were a real event.
In addition, the drill involved the prompt issuance of emergency alerts and operation of emergency organizations in response to the accident, and checked the pan-governmental all-out response system according to the instructions of the government's Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters. This served as an opportunity to strengthen crisis management capabilities in preparation for real situations.
Hwang Jooho, President of KHNP, said, "Through this READY Korea Drill, let's further enhance not only our world-class nuclear power technology but also our disaster preparedness capabilities. If there are any shortcomings found in this drill, let's thoroughly analyze and supplement them so that we can make KHNP a safe organization where the public can feel secure in any disaster."
