Mayor Lee Jangwoo: "Full Inclusion of Government Budget Needed for Timely Tram Launch" The People Power Party's Chungcheong Region Budget Policy Council was held at the National Assembly on the 25th. / Daejeon City

Daejeon Mayor Lee Jangwoo attended the People Power Party's Chungcheong Region Budget Policy Council held at the National Assembly on the 25th and requested the inclusion of budgets for major projects such as the Daejeon Urban Railway Line 2 tram.

During the policy council attended by Floor Leader Chu Kyungho, Policy Committee Chair Kim Sanghoon, and Daejeon Party Chairperson Lee Sangmin, Mayor Lee stated, "I am here with the determination that if we do not secure funding for projects that were not included in the government budget proposal or require an increase, now is the only opportunity."

Regarding the government budget proposal for the Daejeon Urban Railway Line 2 tram, which was reduced from the originally requested 184.6 billion won to 58.6 billion won, Mayor Lee emphasized, "The Urban Railway Line 2 tram is a long-cherished wish of Daejeon citizens, and it will definitely open in 2028. For timely completion, the full amount must be included in the government budget. I urge the party leadership to actively play their part."

He also requested budget allocations for the construction of the road between Sacheonggyo and Hanbatgyo, support for the operation of the Public Children's Rehabilitation Hospital, the establishment of a veterans' recreation center in the western region, and the construction of an integrated wireless network (LTE-R) for Urban Railway Line 1.

People Power Party Floor Leader Chu Kyungho responded, "After the National Assembly audit is over, we will immediately begin full-scale budget deliberations, and the leadership will work together to ensure that the budget for making Daejeon a top-tier economic city is included during that process."
