A story has been shared about a woman who is struggling because the wedding dates of her sister-in-law and her longtime friend overlap.

On the 23rd, a post titled "Is it right to attend my sister-in-law's wedding?" was uploaded to an online community.

The writer, A, who is in her mid-30s, has a friend she has known for 25 years, almost like a sister. A described this friend as "someone more precious than my parents and husband, even closer than my biological sister, and someone I see more often than my parents even after marriage." She added, "At my wedding, she paid 1 million won and gave an additional gift worth around 300,000 won, always standing by me during important moments in my life."

A said, "That friend is getting married in March next year," and "I was supposed to give a congratulatory speech and be the bridesmaid." She explained, "Since the wedding was scheduled in February this year, I naturally promised her that I would attend no matter what."

However, a problem arose. The wedding dates of her best friend and sister-in-law overlapped. A said, "My sister-in-law suddenly rushed to plan a wedding with a boyfriend she had been dating for just over a year, even though there was no talk of marriage before. She wanted to have it as soon as possible, but since the first half of the year was fully booked, she seemed to be looking for an available date. Then she made a preliminary contract at a venue, but unfortunately, it coincides with my friend's wedding day," expressing her frustration.

A confessed that she usually does not get along well with her sister-in-law. She said, "My sister-in-law neither gave a congratulatory gift nor attended our wedding," and added, "She has caused many troubles by relying financially on my capable older brother, even after marriage, despite growing up responsibly since childhood." A also mentioned that for similar reasons, she is not on good terms with her in-laws.

The wedding times are only 30 minutes apart, and the venues are far from each other, so she has to give up one of them. A said, "This situation is so frustrating," and asked, "Is it right to skip my friend's wedding and attend my sister-in-law's?" She continued, "Logically, I think I should attend my sister-in-law's wedding, but if I miss the wedding of a precious friend who helped me a lot during my own wedding, it feels like betraying a lifelong bond. I don't know what to do," seeking advice.

Most netizens who read the story advised her to attend the sister-in-law's wedding. They commented, "Give your friend 2 million won as a congratulatory gift and attend your sister-in-law's wedding to keep things clean," "Put yourself in the other person's shoes. It would be like your husband skipping his sister-in-law's wedding to attend a friend's," "Convincing one friend is easier than convincing dozens of family members for a family wedding," "Family comes first no matter what," "Do you even need to ask? You must attend your sister-in-law's wedding," "Family comes first whether you like it or not," and "Just tell your friend it's your sister-in-law's wedding. She will understand," among other opinions.
