Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education is conducting a digital sex crime prevention campaign at Tanbeol Middle School in Gwangju on the 25th, in collaboration with the National Police Agency and Gyeonggi Provincial Government to prevent digital sex crimes in schools. This campaign was held on students' way to school, organized by the Office of Education along with officials from the Southern Gyeonggi Police Agency and Gyeonggi Provincial Government, to prevent deepfake crimes spreading in group chats in cyberspace.
During the subsequent meeting, discussions were held on ▲ sharing the current status of deepfake victimization and responses ▲ sharing types and trends of digital sex crimes occurring in school settings ▲ victim support measures ▲ preventive education ▲ cooperation plans with related organizations.
The Office of Education decided to further strengthen the permanent cooperative system established and operated with the National Police Agency and the Provincial Government to prevent and respond to digital sex crimes, and to stabilize school environments troubled by anxiety caused by digital sex crimes.
Lee Ji-myeong, Director of the Life Character Education Division at the Office of Education, emphasized, “We will strengthen cooperation with related organizations to resolve confusion in schools caused by the spread of new types of digital sex crimes such as deepfakes and to enhance schools’ prevention and response capabilities.”
Meanwhile, the Office of Education is striving to create a safe school culture free from digital sex crimes through measures such as ▲ operating a special task force closely connected to school sites ▲ establishing a one-stop reporting and support system ▲ strengthening support systems linked with related organizations ▲ enhancing preventive education ▲ and fostering digital citizenship education in relation to new types of digital sex crimes including deepfakes.
