Participation in Korea's Largest Hydrogen Exhibition H2MEET
Hyundai Motor Group participated in H2MEET 2024, a hydrogen industry specialized exhibition held at KINTEX in Goyang for three days starting from the 25th. The group showcased various hydrogen business technologies applied throughout the entire lifecycle, from hydrogen production to utilization.
This was the first occasion to publicly present tangible results since unveiling H-TWO, the hydrogen value chain business brand expanded earlier this year. The exhibition was organized around four main themes: energy security, decarbonization of ports and airports, industrial hydrogen applications and business, and hydrogen society.
The energy security booth introduced resource-circulating technologies and ongoing demonstration projects, such as producing hydrogen from biogas extracted from organic waste like food waste and livestock manure, and converting hydrogen by decomposing waste plastics. Since 2016, the company has been operating Korea’s first resource-circulating hydrogen production facility in Chungju. Hyundai Engineering & Construction is building the country’s first water electrolysis-based hydrogen production base in Buan, Jeonbuk.
The decarbonization booth highlighted the North American port decarbonization project launched in May. It also introduced carbon reduction projects at Incheon International Airport. Regarding industrial hydrogen business, through H-TWO Logistics, jointly established with Hyundai Glovis in North America, plans for an eco-friendly logistics system based on hydrogen fuel cell trucks to be introduced at a new electric vehicle factory in the U.S. were exhibited. At the hydrogen society booth, visitors could experience hydrogen fuel cell systems used in various mobility means such as ships and trams through virtual reality (VR).

Hyundai Motor Group plans to strengthen collaboration among its affiliates while building networks with the government, local governments, and various hydrogen industry-related companies both domestically and internationally. The group also aims to secure new demand sources for hydrogen-based mobility.
Jang Jae-hoon, CEO of Hyundai Motor Company, said, "While gathering the capabilities we have at the Hyundai Motor Group level in the hydrogen business sector, we will also solidify internal capabilities such as various mobility applications and energy applications. Afterwards, we will be able to lead partnerships with external companies." He added, "Since external companies are very interested in the commercial sector, we plan to prioritize collaboration in that area."
