KNS Signs MOU with CTNS... "Aiming to Strengthen Position in Secondary Battery Market"

KNS (KNS, CEO Jeong Bong-jin), a manufacturer of automated equipment for secondary battery CID, BMA, and CAP, announced on the 25th that it has signed a strategic business agreement (MOU) with CTNS, a company specializing in secondary battery pack manufacturing.

The MOU signing ceremony was held at the KNS headquarters. The event was attended by KNS CEO Jeong Bong-jin, CTNS CEO Kwon Ki-jung, and other key executives, where specific cooperation plans aimed at joint growth in the secondary battery market were discussed.

This MOU aims to establish new growth engines through mutual cooperation between KNS and CTNS in the secondary battery market. Based on their respective technical capabilities and experience, the two companies plan to build a complementary partnership to secure a competitive edge in the rapidly changing secondary battery market. Notably, under this agreement, KNS decided to invest approximately 1 billion KRW in CTNS and received an order worth about 2.5 billion KRW for small module pack automation equipment from CTNS. CTNS plans to maximize efficiency in small battery pack manufacturing and accelerate productivity and technological innovation by utilizing the automation equipment supplied by KNS.

KNS expects additional equipment orders as CTNS strengthens productivity and technological capabilities in small secondary battery pack manufacturing and expands its market. Furthermore, this agreement is anticipated to serve as a foothold for KNS to expand beyond its current secondary battery business into various industrial sectors such as robotics and electric mobility.

CTNS, established in June 2017, is a company specializing in secondary battery pack manufacturing. It produces lithium-ion battery packs in small quantities with diverse product types and provides total solutions from technical consultation to mass production and certification. Its major clients include leading companies in robotics, electric mobility, agricultural machinery, and industrial equipment sectors. CTNS is particularly recognized for its differentiated technological capabilities through customized BMS system development. Amid the growing importance of Battery Management Systems (BMS) due to recent electric vehicle fires, CTNS's future growth potential is highly anticipated. Additionally, CTNS is expected to create significant synergy with KNS this year as a selected company for the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' autonomous factory construction support program.

Jeong Bong-jin, CEO of KNS, stated, “This business agreement signing will be an important turning point for KNS and CTNS to grow together,” adding, “We will maximize business synergy based on KNS’s automated equipment manufacturing technology and CTNS’s small module pack manufacturing technology to strengthen our market position.”
