'Mom's Friend's Son', 'I Am Georgina' Bullying Incident
The survival variety show ‘Heukbaek Chef: Culinary Class War’ ranked first in Netflix's non-English series viewing rankings during its first week of release. According to Netflix on the 25th, it recorded 3.8 million views (the number of views divided by playback time) from the 16th to the 22nd. It topped the rankings, surpassing dramas such as ‘Mom's Friend's Son’ (3 million views) and ‘I Am Georgina Season 3’ (2.9 million views).
‘Heukbaek Chef: Culinary Class War’ is a survival program where eighty chefs labeled as ‘Heuksujeo’ (black spoon) and twenty relatively more well-known chefs called ‘Baeksujeo’ (white spoon) compete in various cooking battles to determine the winner. Baek Jong-won, CEO of The Born Korea, and Ahn Seong-jae, chef of Mosu Seoul, appear as judges. Famous chefs such as Yeo Kyung-rae, Choi Hyun-seok, Edward Lee, Jung Ji-sun, Choi Kang-rok, and Oh Se-deuk participate as Baeksujeo.
This program also ranked first in the weekly popularity rankings released by Good Data Corporation on the 24th, covering TV and online video service (OTT) content. In the individual popularity survey, CEO Baek Jong-won ranked 3rd, Chef Ahn Seong-jae ranked 7th, and Chef Choi Kang-rok ranked 8th.
The 12-episode ‘Heukbaek Chef: Culinary Class War’ released episodes 5 to 7 on the 24th. Episodes 8 to 10 will be unveiled on the 1st of next month, and episodes 11 to 12 will be revealed on the 8th of next month.
