100 Billion KRW Sponsorship Since Last Year
Full-Scale Volunteer Activities with Employee Participation Initiated
GS Caltex announced on the 25th that it has started the Energy Plus Volunteer Corps activities involving its employees, along with the recruitment announcement for 1,900 households targeted for residential environment improvement this year.
The energy efficiency improvement project for low-income households is a program promoted by the Korea Energy Foundation with government subsidies. GS Caltex became the first private company to participate last year, pledging 10 billion KRW in sponsorship and supporting 1,870 households through the energy efficiency improvement project. This year, they are recruiting 1,900 beneficiary households, and applications can be submitted through local administrative welfare centers until a separate project completion notice is given.
Additionally, GS Caltex has launched employee volunteer teams at various business sites nationwide, including Seoul and Yeosu, to directly assist on-site with activities such as window replacement and insulation installation.
The first employee energy efficiency improvement volunteer activity of this year took place on the 25th at Hyemyeong Mayville (formerly Hyemyeong Childcare Center). Hyemyeong Mayville is a childcare facility opened in 1946 in Geumcheon-gu, Seoul, currently supporting the safety, health, learning, cultural activities, and independence of 48 children in need of care, ranging from preschoolers to high school students. GS Caltex employees worked on installing window frames in the building’s corridors and staircases, with support from the Secretary General and staff of the Energy Foundation.
Park Hye-jung, director of Hyemyeong Mayville, expressed gratitude, saying, "The children used to shiver from the cold in winter because there were no windows installed in the corridors, so we are happy they can now spend a warmer winter."
The GS Caltex employee volunteer corps plans to continue volunteer activities at construction sites across the country, including Seoul, Yeosu, Incheon, Gangwon, and Daejeon, until the residential environment improvements for vulnerable groups are completed in 2024.

As an energy company, GS Caltex deeply recognizes this problem and will continue to fulfill its social responsibility through energy efficiency improvement projects for vulnerable groups and employee volunteer activities."
