A man in his 20s, Mr. A, who caused the death of a peer by assault over an online game issue, has been arrested on charges of injury resulting in death.
According to the Gwangju Bukbu Police Station on the 24th, Mr. A is accused of assaulting Mr. B with a blunt weapon and fists at an apartment in Duam-dong, Buk-gu, Gwangju, at 4:07 a.m. on the 22nd, resulting in Mr. B's death.
Mr. A met Mr. B after traveling from Ulsan to Gwangju on the 19th with his wife and two friends. On the day of the crime, he assaulted Mr. B for about an hour at Mr. B's residence, demanding an apology.
Mr. A stated that about three weeks ago, he was introduced to Mr. B by his wife and had been playing an online game together. He committed the crime out of anger because Mr. B lost an item during the game and made sexually harassing remarks toward his wife.
The police initially arrested Mr. A on charges of assault causing death, but considering the severity of Mr. B's injuries, the charges were changed to injury resulting in death.
The police plan to investigate whether Mr. A and his group committed additional crimes and then transfer the case to the prosecution.
