POSCO Group Transfers 71 Patents Free of Charge to 53 Companies

On the 25th, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy held the '2024 Ministry of Industry-Posco Group Technology Sharing Event' at the COEX ASEM Ballroom in Seoul, with on-site participation from Oh Seung-cheol, Director of the Industrial Infrastructure Office, Lee Seong-wook, Vice President of Posco Holdings, and executives from Posco Group companies, as well as representatives from 34 beneficiary companies of technology sharing. Posco Group attendees included representatives from Posco, Posco E&C, Posco DX, and the Pohang Institute of Industrial Science and Technology.

At the event, the Ministry of Industry and Posco Group signed a technology sharing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and awarded transfer certificates to the recipient companies. Posco Group transferred 71 out of 261 shared technologies free of charge to 53 companies.

The major technologies transferred this time include the 'Coke Oven Entrance Frame,' which prevents gas leaks around the coal insertion entrance, the 'Fire-Resistant Concrete Pillar,' which is fire-resistant and eliminates the need for formwork dismantling, and the 'Magnesium Manufacturing Device,' which prevents dust generation during magnesium production. The recipient companies are expected to expand sales and create employment through these technologies.

Posco Group has participated in technology sharing since 2017 and has provided 4,276 technologies for sharing to date. Among them, 814 patents have been transferred free of charge to 405 companies.

Oh Seung-cheol, Director of the Industrial Infrastructure Office at the Ministry of Industry, said, "The excellent technologies transferred from Posco Group this time will greatly assist beneficiary small and medium-sized enterprises in developing new products and new technologies," adding, "Such win-win cooperation between companies will ultimately lead to enhancing the global competitiveness of our industry."
