This Month, Kia and 3 Others Recall 917,547 Vehicles
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 25th that voluntary recall measures will be taken for 916,273 vehicles across 13 models manufactured or imported and sold by Hyundai Motor, Kia, and others due to manufacturing defects. Among the recalled vehicles, 911,211 units, accounting for 99.8%, are subject to voluntary recall due to fire risk.
Hyundai and Kia will recall a total of 911,211 vehicles across 7 models due to fire risk. Hyundai will recall 620,349 units across 5 models including the Grandeur, while Kia will recall 89,469 Mohave units and 3,233 Sportage units due to potential fires caused by insufficient durability of the Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (HECU). Additionally, 201,393 units of the Grand Starex will be recalled starting from the 26th due to potential fire risk caused by insufficient durability of engine components.
MAN Truck & Bus Korea will recall 1,829 vehicles across 4 models, including the TGS dump truck, starting from the 4th of next month due to fire risk caused by insufficient stiffness of the crankshaft main bearing. The crankshaft is an engine component that converts the piston's reciprocating motion into rotational motion.
Scania Korea Group will initiate recall measures from the 27th for 1,274 cargo trucks due to steering wheel vibration caused by manufacturing defects in the steering system connection parts.
