Geumcheon-gu Plans 'Minseong Happiness' Future to Celebrate 30th Anniversary

Geumcheon-gu 30th Anniversary of Establishment: Achievements of the 8th Elected Term and Strategy Development for a New Leap
Establishment of 430 Project Plans Including 106 New Projects

Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that it will hold the ‘2025 Major Work Plan Report Meeting’ from September 23 to 27.


The report meeting focuses on finalizing the promises and key projects of the 8th elected administration and establishing future business plans at the point just before the 30th anniversary of Geumcheon-gu’s establishment.


All departments of the district office, the local public enterprise Geumcheon-gu Facilities Management Corporation, and public institutions such as the Geumcheon Cultural Foundation will participate.


The district has established a total of 430 business plans, including 106 new projects that have been concretized according to local conditions, by reviewing expected issues and current affairs for next year such as the 30th anniversary of the district’s establishment, the 80th anniversary of Liberation Day, central government and Seoul city policy trends, and resident demands.


To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the district’s establishment with residents and boost pride, the district will look back on 30 years of development history and present visions and strategies for the next 10 years. It will hold representative local cultural events commemorating the 30th anniversary, such as the Geumcheon Harmony Festival. In addition, it plans to focus on promoting the 30th anniversary using special content and various media.


To create a future educational environment, the district will operate a creative and convergence science platform, build a future-oriented advanced self-directed learning environment including electronic blackboards and smart classrooms, and strengthen all-day care services through the operation of Neulbom School.


To protect residents’ safe daily lives, the district will promote heatwave countermeasure projects such as ice water-sharing refrigerators and install disaster safety monitoring closed-circuit televisions (CCTV) in high-altitude areas.

To recover the livelihood economy, the district supports small business owners with the ‘Yellow Umbrella Hope Incentive’ policy to revitalize the alley economy, strengthen the competitiveness of traditional markets and shopping districts, and promote win-win cooperation between companies and local communities.


It will also continuously create jobs and implement customized support for vulnerable workers. In preparation for an increase in the youth population, it will provide the ‘Geumcheon-type Employment Success Package’ and promote the ‘Room Rebirth Project.’


To build a dense welfare network, the district will strengthen the safety net for socially isolated households using mobile apps and artificial intelligence (AI), expand lunch support five days a week, and provide various leisure programs to revitalize senior centers.


In addition, it will establish a stable public childcare foundation according to the integrated childcare policy and additionally create Seoul-style kids cafes where children can play safely. For single-person households, it will also promote the customized program ‘Only 1 Project’ for healthy independent living.


To develop into a green city where residents want to live, the district plans an urban innovation strategy for the major renovation of Geumcheon-gu and supports the rapid promotion of complex development around the Air Force base site and Geumcheon-gu Office Station area.


It plans to redevelop the residential area east of Siheung-daero, open roads connecting east and west, and manage Moa Town to promote balanced regional development projects. It will also respond to the climate crisis by expanding parks and green spaces through the creation of ‘Our Neighborhood Companion Charm Garden’ and the Hoamsan Historical and Cultural District.


To create a safe and livable city, the district will install future-oriented multifunctional bus stops (smart shelters) and improve the convenience of village bus use by reflecting transportation demand.


Additionally, construction to improve the G-Valley transportation axis is scheduled.


To create pleasant and walkable streets, the district will safely and cleanly maintain the street environment and promote the installation of the Anyangcheon Music Fountain.


The district plans to carefully review the business plans discussed at the report meeting, reflect them in next year’s budget, and establish detailed implementation plans.


Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “2025 is a meaningful year marking the 30th anniversary of Geumcheon-gu. We plan to successfully complete the major projects so far and set visions and strategies for a new leap forward.” He added, “We will thoroughly prepare and implement people-centered policies in each field so that it can become a happy future city where residents want to live.”
