'Silver Romance Solo Escape' is a program that applies the dating reality format to the 'silver generation,' the main audience of local channels. Under the theme "A life alone, dreaming of romance once again," it depicts the process of single men and women aged 60 and over finding partners in search of their "final love" in life.
'Silver Romance Solo Escape' is popular among local viewers. When it first aired in March last year, it recorded a highest viewership rating of 3.206% per episode (provided by TNMS, based on nationwide paid households on digital cable platforms) and over 2 million cumulative views on YouTube. In season 2, which followed in October of the same year, it achieved a peak viewership rating of 5.08% and 7.88 million cumulative views on YouTube.
According to the aggregated data on the number of viewing households and viewing time for season 3, which has been airing since June, about 300,000 households?approximately 25% of all HCN paid subscribers?consistently watched for more than 20 minutes per episode. The number of YouTube subscribers also increased by more than 20% during the airing period of season 3. Inquiries from local residents about participation applications are also on the rise.
The HCN local channel production team cited the secret to the popularity of 'Silver Romance Solo Escape' as "a story that stimulates the interest of all generations and resonates with everyone." The cast boldly confesses their feelings for love and engages in friendly competition within love triangles.
The production team explained, "The passionate appearances of the elderly, comparable to those of younger generations, allow the silver generation participants, middle-aged viewers, and younger generations alike to feel both fun and emotion," adding, "It is also suitable for families to gather and watch together, sharing empathy across generations."
In season 3, realistic topics such as social issues, financial problems, marriage, and children?concerns of the silver generation?were addressed, eliciting empathy from local viewers. HCN stated, "Season 4 is also in preparation."
