Osan-si Holds 'Citizen's Day' Commemoration Ceremony

Mayor Ikwon Jae "Laying the Foundation for Osan's Prosperity"

On the 24th, Osan City in Gyeonggi Province held the '36th Osan Citizens' Day' commemorative ceremony at the city hall's main conference room, attended by Mayor Lee Kwon-jae, City Council Chairman Lee Sang-bok, provincial and city council members, related organization officials, and about 500 citizens. At the ceremony, Mayor Lee stated, "We will firmly establish the foundation for leaping forward as a 500,000 self-sufficient Connect City."

The event was attended by former National Assembly member Kim Hak-yong, who became an honorary citizen for his contributions to Osan's development, as well as Masayuki Kaneshige, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Idemitsu Advanced Materials Korea, which established a dedicated research and development (R&D) corporation in Osan. Also visiting were domestic and international sister, friendly, and exchange city officials including Chungbuk Yeongdong County Governor Jeong Young-cheol, Teruo Agasaki, Mayor of Hidaka City, Japan, and Deputy Director of the People's Government Office of Heze City, China, In Chiting.


In his commemorative speech, Mayor Lee presented a blueprint for advancing toward a 500,000 self-sufficient city and an era of a 1 trillion won budget, including ▲ the successful settlement of Osan Urban Corporation ▲ the establishment of a comprehensive transportation network ▲ the promotion of a 300,000-pyeong Techno Valley ▲ the construction of social overhead capital (SOC) to improve citizens' welfare. He proposed, "Let all 240,000 of our citizens support each other and put our heads together to lay the foundation for Osan City's prosperity for the next hundred years."


The ceremony also included the Osan Citizens' Award ceremony, congratulatory performances, and a future vision sharing performance. Following the ceremony, the city plans to hold the 'Osan Citizens' Day Sports Festival' at Osan Sports Complex on the 5th of next month.
