20s Woman Falls to Death from Busan Apartment
Family Raises Suspicion Against Fianc? Present
"Why Didn't He Stop Her While She Opened the Screen and Climbed the Window Frame?"
A woman in her 20s fell to her death from an apartment in Busan, and the bereaved family insists that she had no reason to take her own life. On the evening of the 31st of last month, at around 8:18 PM, a woman in her 20s, identified as Ms. A, fell from the 20th floor of an apartment in Haeundae. The 119 emergency responders, who were called by her boyfriend in his 30s, Mr. B, transported Ms. A to the hospital, but she ultimately passed away. Mr. B reportedly told the police that "my girlfriend, who was by the balcony window, suddenly fell." The couple had planned to marry in March next year.
However, the family claims that Ms. A did not die by suicide. On the 20th, on SBS's 'Curious Story Y,' Ms. A's father said, “She was not someone who would make an extreme choice,” adding, “She was strong-willed, managing home shopping, Pilates, and running a power blog.” Ms. A's sibling also stated, “She was working hard and living well, so why would she choose to end her life? Moreover, she was about to get married next year.”
After the incident, Mr. B told the family, “We had an argument, and she said, ‘I’m upset, so I’m going out to hang out with friends.’ I told her that leaving while we were fighting wouldn’t solve anything and grabbed her wrist,” he explained. “She shook me off and suddenly went to the veranda, saying, ‘Is this what you want?’” Regarding the question, “What were you doing while she was opening the window and the screen door?” Mr. B said, “I was sighing and bowing my head at the entrance, and then she went like that.” He added, “As she fell, she grabbed the railing with her left hand. I rushed to try to catch her, but I couldn’t.”
However, the family found it hard to accept this explanation. Ms. A’s sibling said, “She wasn’t sick or mentally unstable, so doesn’t this seem very strange?” They added, “It’s not easy to open the screen door, and the height of the veranda window frame is 110 cm, so it wouldn’t be easy for my sister, who is 157 cm tall, to climb over it. I don’t understand how Mr. B couldn’t stop her during that time.” They also pointed out, “The house was messy as if there had been a physical struggle, and although she said she was going out, she suddenly jumped. Also, her phone was inside the room, which is suspicious.”
According to the broadcast that day, a friend of Ms. A said that the couple often argued over financial reasons during their wedding preparations, and Ms. A had sent bruised photos to a friend, claiming she had been hit by someone. On the day of the incident, Ms. A and Mr. B had argued since the afternoon and separated. Ms. A told Mr. B, “Don’t come to my house. I want to break up,” but Mr. B insisted, “We need to resolve this,” and went to her house, after which the accident occurred.
However, the on-site investigation found no evidence that Mr. B had used physical force on Ms. A. The police have requested a detailed autopsy from the National Forensic Service to determine the exact cause of death, and the results are expected by the end of this month.
