A Moment to Reflect on Responsibilities and Duties as Public Officials and Pledge Integrity in Public Service
Reviewing Essential Standards Public Officials Must Follow, Including the Anti-Graft Act and Conflict of Interest Prevention Act
Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) held a pledge ceremony for integrity practice and a code of conduct training session on the 23rd for 73 senior public officials at grade 5 and above.
This training was organized to foster a culture of integrity and strengthen the internal control system.
During the integrity practice pledge ceremony, the senior officials reflected on their responsibilities and duties as public servants and committed to practicing integrity.
Additionally, they presented integrity practice slogans they created themselves to further solidify their commitment to integrity. Notably, a newly promoted senior official this year read the pledge on behalf of the group, adding special significance.
The integrity practice pledge included commitments such as ▲ adhering to fair and honest work processes ▲ prohibiting improper solicitations, gifts, entertainment, and provision of conveniences during duty ▲ strengthening the internal control system ▲ participating in making Jungnang-gu a desirable place to work.
Following this, Yeom Geon-ryeong, director of the Korea Institute of Criminology, was invited to conduct the code of conduct training, focusing on the Anti-Graft Act and the Conflict of Interest Prevention Act, reviewing the legal and ethical standards that public officials must observe while performing their duties.
The training also covered specific cases related to the recently highlighted issue of abuse of power and violations of the code of conduct, which resonated strongly with the attending senior officials.
Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, stated, “Through this integrity practice pledge ceremony and code of conduct training, we will advance toward a public service trusted by residents,” adding, “We will continue to strive to create an honest public service by providing diverse and ongoing support for continuous education and strengthening internal controls.”
In addition, the district plans to continuously support various programs and training based on the internal control system to enable senior public officials to lead with integrity and responsible administration. Through this, it is expected to encourage autonomous inspection and improvement within the public service, enhance integrity, and realize transparent administration trusted by residents.
