Kim Bok-hyung, New Constitutional Court Justice, "Will Maintain Political Neutrality During 6-Year Term"
New Constitutional Court Justice Kim Bok-hyung stated, "I will closely observe rapidly changing social phenomena surrounding generations, regions, gender, and ideology, and listen attentively to the voices of socially vulnerable and minority groups."
At the inauguration ceremony held on the 23rd at the Constitutional Court in Jongno-gu, Seoul, Justice Kim said, "Recently, as cases such as impeachment trials and disputes over authority have increased, the Constitutional Court is increasingly required to serve as a political conflict resolution institution."
He added, "As I have done for the past 29 years as a judge, I will maintain political neutrality as a Constitutional Court justice for the next six years." Justice Kim also stated, "In accordance with the principles of separation of powers, checks and balances, I will diligently perform my duties while intensely considering which path best guarantees the dignity and value of the people as human beings, their right to pursue happiness and fundamental rights, and protects constitutional values such as the free democratic basic order and the rule of law."
Justice Kim succeeded former Justice Lee Eun-ae. He began his term on the 21st and will serve as a Constitutional Court justice for six years until September 20, 2030.
