Body Hidden by Pouring Cement After Placing in Travel Bag

A man in his 50s who killed his cohabiting girlfriend and concealed her body on the balcony for 16 years has been arrested. It was revealed that he lived in the house for 8 years after hiding the corpse. Additionally, it was confirmed that the man had used drugs at the time of his arrest. On the 23rd, Yonhap News reported that the Geoje Police Station in Gyeongnam arrested Mr. A on charges of killing and concealing the body of a woman he had lived with since 2004.

Mr. A is accused of killing his partner, Ms. B (then in her 30s), around October 10, 2008, at their residence in Geoje by assaulting her head and face with a blunt object during an argument. After Ms. B died, Mr. A placed her body in a travel bag and moved it to the outdoor balcony next to the rooftop studio apartment where he lived. He then concealed the body by stacking bricks and pouring cement over it.

The crime was uncovered 16 years later, around August of this year, when a contractor discovered the travel bag containing the body during concrete demolition work for a leak repair. It was confirmed that Mr. A continued to live at the residence until 2016 after hiding the body. The police immediately formed a dedicated investigation team upon discovering the body and began their inquiry. They confirmed that Ms. B had lived at the address since 2006 and was reported missing around 2011. An autopsy determined the cause of death to be head trauma caused by a blunt object.

It was also confirmed during the investigation that he had used methamphetamine, and he is currently under investigation for this as well. The police plan to conduct further investigations into the circumstances of Mr. A’s crime before transferring the case for prosecution.
