Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) has decided to explore entry into the clean hydrogen business in the European market together with the Czech Republic.
On the 20th (local time), KHNP announced on the 23rd that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Czech Hydrogen Association for "business support and information exchange on nuclear clean hydrogen" at the 'Korea-Czech Industrial and Energy Technology Cooperation Forum' held in Prague, Czech Republic. Established in 2007, the Czech Hydrogen Association is an organization leading research and projects related to the establishment of the Czech national hydrogen strategy.

According to the agreement, the two organizations plan to actively cooperate in ▲development of nuclear clean hydrogen production technology and production business ▲technology development and business support in other hydrogen fields (such as fuel cells) ▲policy and regulatory improvements and information exchange in the hydrogen sector (forums and seminars), aiming to strengthen competitiveness in the global clean hydrogen market. In particular, they agreed to closely collaborate on building clean hydrogen infrastructure and developing hydrogen technologies within Europe, with the shared goal of global clean energy transition.
A KHNP official stated, "This cooperation is expected to be an important turning point for Korea and the Czech Republic in leading the clean hydrogen business," adding, "The two organizations plan to leverage this MOU to jointly host various international events such as the Clean Hydrogen International Forum to seek innovative and practical changes."
Earlier in April this year, KHNP held a hydrogen cooperation forum and business consultation meeting in Prague, Czech Republic. This month, it is strengthening global cooperation by hosting the Clean Hydrogen International Forum at BEXCO in Busan. Alongside this, KHNP plans to actively enter the European clean hydrogen business based on the technology and business capabilities accumulated domestically.
Gong Young-gon, Head of the Hydrogen Convergence Division at KHNP, said, "This cooperation will be an opportunity for our country to establish global competitiveness in the clean hydrogen industry," and added, "Based on the hydrogen-related technologies and passion accumulated domestically, we will do our best to achieve good results in the European market through cooperation with the Czech Republic."
