Kakao Launches 'Project Danggo' Campaign to Support Small Businesses and Revitalize Local Economy

Kakao announced on the 23rd that it will carry out the 'Project Danggol' campaign to support small business owners nationwide and revitalize local commercial districts.

First, Kakao will run the 'Making Regular Customers Challenge' for small business owners nationwide until the 31st of next month. This challenge promotion encourages small business owners to communicate with their regular customers using KakaoTalk channels and is being held for the second time following last year. Any small business owner with a business Talk Channel can participate, and those without a Talk Channel can open a new one to join.

The mission of this Making Regular Customers Challenge consists of two tasks. Participants must either send a message to all friends of their business Talk Channel or engage in one-on-one chats with Talk Channel friends. The difficulty of the missions has been significantly lowered compared to last year.

Participants who complete each mission will receive 5,000 won in Kakao Shopping Points, totaling 10,000 won. Among those who succeed in both missions, 100 participants will be selected by lottery to receive additional benefits worth 500,000 won, including 200,000 won in Kakao Shopping Points and 300,000 won in support funds for sending Talk Channel messages.

Additionally, starting from the 23rd of this month, Kakao Friends' Ryan will launch the 'Ryan Nationwide Danggol Road' campaign, introducing local commercial districts and cultures as part of Project Danggol. Ryan will personally visit regions and create experiential content to help promote local commercial areas.

Ryan's first destination is Andong City in Gyeongbuk Province. The plan is to introduce various attractions, food, and activities where visitors can experience traditional culture. Starting with Andong City, the campaign will expand to selected Project Danggol business areas across the country.

Kakao is also conducting the 'Returning to Danggol Street' project to continuously support the digital transformation of shopping districts that participated in the first phase of the Danggol Street project. They plan to revisit existing first-phase Danggol Street areas such as Jecheon, Daejeon, Incheon, Andong, Gwangju, Jeju, and Seongnam to provide follow-up support including online and offline events and customized training.

Park Yoon-seok, Kakao's Shared Growth Performance Leader, stated, "We plan to support various promotional activities and marketing to attract visitors to local commercial districts nationwide and revitalize regional economies," adding, "We will continue to develop win-win programs that can help small business owners."

Meanwhile, Kakao operates Project Danggol to support the digital transformation of small business owners by providing solutions through direct visits. Project Danggol conducts various projects nationwide targeting small business owners, including 'Danggol Market' supporting traditional market merchants and 'Danggol Street' for local shopping districts. Since 2022, it has provided digital education to 2,128 merchants from 162 traditional markets and local shopping district merchant associations nationwide.
