On the 23rd, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization announced that from the 23rd, when the entire Korea Dullegil trail opens, until October 13, they will carry out the "Low-Carbon Travel Week - Green Footprint Campaign." This campaign was prepared to promote eco-friendly travel and expand local tourism consumption in celebration of the full opening of the Korea Dullegil trail.

During the "Low-Carbon Travel Week," various events will take place, including a relay challenge to traverse the entire Korea Dullegil (4,500 km), a certification campaign for 45 recommended courses, a relay challenge campaign for 60 selected bicycle free travel courses, and low-carbon train (Eco Rail) linked walking and cycling trips. A total of 44 government agencies and companies, including the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, local governments, Samsung Electronics, and Kakao, will participate in diverse collaborative projects.

First, to mark the opening of the Korea Dullegil, the "Durunubi" application, which provides comprehensive information on walking trips, will run a 4,500 km national relay campaign. After consenting to participate in the campaign, those who complete one course will receive a mobile gift certificate on a first-come, first-served basis for 5,000 people. Additionally, five participants will be selected by lottery to receive trekking sets worth approximately 500,000 KRW. Other programs include walking events following the 45 recommended Korea Dullegil courses and walking festivals linked with local governments. Furthermore, the Samsung Health app will host a Korea Dullegil walking travel challenge throughout September.

A relay campaign to promote bicycle travel will also be conducted. About 200 cycling club members and the general public will participate during the Low-Carbon Travel Week to conduct a final inspection of candidate areas for the 60 selected bicycle free travel courses nationwide. This inspection will start at Myeongpa Beach in Goseong, Gangwon-do, and continue sequentially in the metropolitan area, Chungcheong region, Gyeongsang region, and Jeolla region.

The Korea Tourism Organization plans to finalize and announce the 60 selected bicycle free travel courses based on participants’ reviews from this campaign. Additionally, various programs such as the "Low-Carbon Train" for walkers and cyclists traveling together and the Haenam-gun bicycle stamp tour will be operated.

Moreover, from the 26th to the 29th, the "2024 Go Camping School" will be held for 2 nights and 3 days to promote proper camping culture and introduce upcycling experience programs for eco-friendly camping. In addition, linked with GOCAF, the largest domestic camping expo scheduled to be held at KINTEX in Ilsan from October 4 to 6, various experiential events will be held to promote eco-friendly and safe car camping and dump stations (wastewater treatment facilities for camping cars).

Detailed information and participation methods for the campaign can be found on the Durunubi website or app.

Seo Young-chung, Acting President of the Korea Tourism Organization, said, "The Korea Dullegil, developed over about 15 years since 2009, has finally opened its entire route and is expected to become Korea’s representative walking travel trail. The Low-Carbon Travel Week, held to commemorate the full opening of the Korea Dullegil, expands the existing walking travel week, and we will do our best to establish an eco-friendly travel culture."

The Korea Dullegil, which continuously connects the edges of the Korean Peninsula, was completed with the opening of the last section, the "DMZ Peace Trail," on September 23, 2024, following the openings of the East Sea Haeparang Trail in 2016, the South Sea Nampalang Trail in 2020, and the West Sea Seohaerang Trail in 2022.
