Lotte Energy Materials is entering the market for ultra-low-roughness copper foil for artificial intelligence (AI) networks.

On the 23rd, according to Lotte Energy Materials, the company signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on the 20th at Jamsil Lotte World Tower with Isu Petasys regarding the supply of ultra-low-roughness copper foil, a core material for AI and network printed circuit board (PCB) substrates.

The signing ceremony was attended by key executives from both companies, including Kim Yeon-seop, CEO of Lotte Energy Materials; Park In-gu, Head of Sales 1 Purchasing Division; Sung Dae-hyun, Head of Sales 1 Division; and Choi Chang-bok, CEO of Isu Petasys; as well as Yang Won-ho, Head of Management Division.

Through this agreement, the two companies will collaborate on the development of ultra-low-roughness copper foil required for high-performance and high-multilayer network PCB substrates used in AI accelerators and servers, and establish a strategic partnership based on stable raw material supply.

Through this, Isu Petasys, the only domestic AI network PCB manufacturer, and Lotte Energy Materials, a circuit foil manufacturer, plan to supply high value-added products to global IT companies based on a close SCM (Supply Chain Management) system.

As the technological complexity of equipment such as AI accelerators, servers, and routers requiring high-speed data transmission gradually increases, the demand for high-performance, high-multilayer PCB products is rising. This is why the importance of core materials such as ultra-low-roughness copper foil, which features low signal loss and nano surface treatment technology, is growing day by day.

Kim Yeon-seop, CEO of Lotte Energy Materials, said, "The core of this MOU is that our company, the only domestic circuit foil manufacturer, and Isu Petasys, the only domestic network PCB manufacturer, will produce and supply high value-added products through strategic collaboration." He added, "Through this strategic partnership, we will strengthen competitiveness in the network PCB market and solidify the SCM system to support our customers in expanding product supply to global big tech companies."
