Electric Fans Sold Twice as Much
Sales of summer appliances such as air conditioners and fans in September increased compared to last year due to the late summer heatwave that lasted until September this year.
On the 23rd, Electronic Land announced that, according to a survey of appliance sales trends from September 1 to 22 this year, air conditioner sales volume increased by 19% compared to the same period last year. During the same period, fan sales more than doubled.
The reason for the increase in summer appliance sales in September compared to last year is that the heatwave did not subside. As of the 18th, the number of heatwave days nationwide in September reached 5.5 days, setting a new record. During this period, the perceived temperature approached 33 to 35 degrees Celsius, typical of midsummer heatwave temperatures, leading to continued demand for summer appliances through September, Electronic Land explained. In particular, with tropical nights persisting, air conditioner sales noticeably increased compared to last year.
Accordingly, Electronic Land is maintaining the display period for air conditioners and fans in stores nationwide until the end of September and continuing discount events following those in August. First, at nationwide directly managed stores, air conditioner promotional models are discounted by up to 23%, and when purchased with promotional cards, up to 36 months of long-term interest-free benefits are provided. By utilizing the air conditioner stock clearance promotion, multi-type air conditioners, including stand and wall-mounted models, can be purchased in the mid-1 million KRW range.
Electronic Land’s online shopping mall is also holding events offering 66% and 50% discounts on circulators and portable fans, respectively.
An Electronic Land representative said, "Although the heat is expected to ease from the fourth week of September, the early autumn weather is still expected to be warmer than usual," adding, "We hope customers wisely cope with the late heatwave by taking advantage of the various summer appliance promotions held by Electronic Land."
