SonyD's Largest Shareholder Changes to Global Game Service Company 'TwoByte'

Sonid, a KOSDAQ-listed company, has decided to conduct a third-party allotment paid-in capital increase worth 8.4 billion KRW and issue convertible bonds worth 2 billion KRW targeting 2bytes (CEO Ham Young-cheol), a global game service specialist. Sonid announced this fact through a disclosure on the 13th.

Through participation in this paid-in capital increase, 2bytes will hold 8,300,396 shares (18%) of Sonid, securing the status of the largest shareholder. The payment date for the 6 billion KRW paid-in capital increase is October 10, and the payment date for the 2.4 billion KRW paid-in capital increase is October 25. Additionally, convertible bonds (31st issuance) worth 2 billion KRW will be issued to 2bytes, with the payment date on October 10.

Founded in 2020, 2bytes is a startup that raised 11 billion KRW through Series A and subsequent investments in 2021, surpassing cumulative sales of 20 billion KRW in four years. Major investors include KT Investment, Gaia Venture Partners, Solare Partners, BNK Investment & Securities, K& Investment Partners, Pearl Abyss, and Korea Venture Investment Corp.

Aiming to become a global publisher, 2bytes operates game localization, QA, operations, content marketing, and publishing businesses. It serves about 120 developers and leading domestic conglomerates as clients. In 2022, it established its own game development studio and is developing the global-targeted puzzle game "PowPop Match" and the SF strategy game "Space Gears." The development team consists of veterans with experience at major game companies such as Wemade and NHN.

Recently, 2bytes is also developing an AI translation platform for games. Based on this platform, it expects to improve translation speed and quality by performing the first translation stage, a core step in global game publishing, through the AI platform. The company aims to become the optimal partner that lowers game service costs and increases the chances of success globally by utilizing AI across all areas of global service.

Ham Young-cheol, CEO of 2bytes, formerly a planner at Daum News and Agora, has achieved significant results as a game planner at Nexon, head of publishing at Daum Games, and global business head for "Black Desert" at Pearl Abyss. In 2020, he established 2bytes independently with key members.
