New Safe Return Paths Established, Safe Return Scouts Operated... Situational Defense Training for Women in Their 20s and 30s
Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) is accelerating related projects to ensure the safe return home of its residents.
The district announced that it is carrying out various safety projects with the goal of "creating a safe return home environment for women and youth."
This year, the district newly established two safe return home routes in Banghak 2-dong (Sirubong-ro 17-gil to Sirubong-ro 15-ra-gil) and Chang-dong (Nohae-ro 61-gil to Nohae-ro 279-8).
The route selection was a collaborative effort between the public and private sectors. Dobong Police Station provided crime data, and the alleyway monitoring team conducted on-site inspections.
The newly established safe return home routes have crime prevention facilities installed, including road-reflecting markers, convex mirrors, and safe bell signboards.
With this, the district now has a total of 10 safe return home routes. The district plans to strengthen patrols centered around these routes in cooperation with Dobong Police Station.
It is dangerous for vulnerable groups such as women and youth to return home alone late at night. The district provides various return home support services for them.
Six Safe Return Home Scout members are deployed and operating at three bases in Dobong-dong, Banghak-dong, and Ssangmun-dong. Safe Return Home Scouts support the safe return of vulnerable groups and patrol high-risk areas. Applications for the accompaniment service can be made through the "Seoul Safe" app.
The district also operates Safe Keeper Houses available 24 hours a day. It designates and manages 24 convenience stores where people can take shelter in emergencies. Through the emergency bell hotline system installed in the Safe Keeper Houses, immediate reporting is possible.
This year, self-defense training was conducted for women in their 20s and 30s. At the Dobong Women’s Center, practical self-defense training based on various scenarios was held every Saturday from August 24 to September 7.
Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, “We are prioritizing the safety of our residents in our administration. In particular, we are making various efforts so that vulnerable groups such as women and youth can live safely without fear of crime. We will continue to do our best to promote protective policies for them.”
