All Employees of Jinhae-gu Office in Changwon Special City Join Local Groups for Emergency Restoration After Torrential Rain

Emergency Response to Heavy Rain, Tireless Efforts for Recovery in Affected Areas

In Jinhae-gu, Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam, all district office staff and local volunteer organizations worked tirelessly for immediate emergency restoration at sites affected by soil runoff and other damages caused by a heavy downpour with an average rainfall of 563mm.

Government officials and community organizations are conducting emergency repairs at the site of soil erosion.

Due to the extreme rainfall that continued from the 20th to the 21st, Jinhae-gu experienced a total of 26 incidents, including 6 cases of soil runoff, 2 facility damages, 9 floods, 3 embankment collapses, and 6 river overflows.

In response, the district office reported 10 cases as completed, 7 scheduled for short-term restoration, and 9 for long-term restoration. They identified disaster sites on roads and rivers, such as the Yeojwacheon-ro area, the intersection of Jangbok-ro to the entrance of Majin Tunnel, Taebaek Intersection, and the flooded Angol Housing Complex, and began emergency restoration work.

Jinhyeon Seop, mayor of Jinhae District Office, is conducting emergency repairs on a road damaged by soil erosion.

On this day, all staff of Jinhae District Office were on emergency duty, and administrative guidance departments for each neighborhood were dispatched to disaster sites to carry out urgent restoration. District Chief Jeong Hyunseop also visited the sites, participated in the restoration work, and issued instructions for emergency safety measures to prevent further damage. For this restoration effort, 24 excavators and dump trucks were deployed, and 316 members of local volunteer organizations in Jinhae-gu actively participated.

Starting on the 23rd, emergency restoration work will be carried out for slope collapses in the Bobaero area and riverbank collapses in Sosacheon and other locations.

Jeong Hyunseop, Chief of Jinhae District Office, stated, "We are making every effort to ensure safety management to prevent accidents on steep slopes, which are prone to occur during heavy rainfall," and added, "We will establish a thorough safety net to protect the lives and property of our residents."

Meanwhile, the district office is focusing all efforts on emergency restoration and resident evacuation related to heavy rain damage, and plans to proceed with restoration work after completing damage assessments as soon as possible.
