Kim Dong-yeon: "Instead of Targeting Opposition Leaders and Persecuting Former Presidents, Focus on Economy and People's Livelihood" Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon’s post on his social media on the 22nd

Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon directly criticized President Yoon Seok-yeol, urging him to "please use the time and energy spent on holding back the opposition party leader and persecuting former presidents to focus on the economy and people's livelihoods."

On the 22nd, Governor Kim posted on his social media, targeting the Yoon Seok-yeol administration by saying, "The leader of the main opposition party and the former president and his family are subjected to 'dusting-off investigations,' while despite overwhelming evidence such as stock manipulation and luxury bags, the president's wife is receiving an 'exoneration investigation.'

He continued, "The prosecution has long betrayed the public's expectations for fairness and neutrality by demanding '2 years imprisonment' for a few words against the opposition leader, 'insulting' the former president, while 'protecting' Kim Kun-hee. However, the Yoon Seok-yeol administration has now crossed the line and reached the point of privatizing the rule of law power," expressing his lament.

In particular, he rhetorically asked, "Do you still not understand the public sentiment during Chuseok?" and advised, "The economy, security, and people's lives are all in crisis right now. Please use the time and energy spent on holding back the opposition leader and persecuting former presidents to focus on the economy and people's livelihoods."

Meanwhile, on the 20th, the prosecution demanded a two-year prison sentence for Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, who was indicted for making false statements during the last presidential election. Lee requested a not guilty verdict, stating that he never intentionally made false statements that contradicted his memory. The sentencing trial will be held in November.
