Exhibition of Artworks and Creative Pieces by People with Disabilities
Held at Jungnang Art Center Exhibition Hall 1 from September 21 to 28 for 6 Days
Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) Jungnang Disabled Independent Living Center (Director Kim Jin-woo) is hosting the 2nd Disabled Artists Exhibition ‘Dodam Dodam: Living Well Without Any Problems’.
This exhibition was organized to enhance the sense of achievement and self-esteem of people with severe disabilities and to improve awareness of disabled people within the local community. It also aims to widely promote the value and meaning embedded in the cultural and artistic activities of people with severe disabilities.
The exhibition features four teams composed of people with severe disabilities, showcasing a variety of works ranging from paintings to artistic creations.
▲ Works from Jungnang-gu Welfare Job Art Activities ‘Different but Together Exhibition’ ▲ Audiobooks and horticultural works from the Senior Disabled Value Discovery Project ‘Synergy’ ▲ Photowall artworks from the cultural leisure self-help group ‘Jungnang Mate’ ▲ Gardening works from the ‘Healing Garden’ cultivated together by disabled and non-disabled people, among various other fields can be seen all in one place.
The exhibition is open to the public free of charge at the Jungnang Art Center Exhibition Hall 1, and the viewing period is six days from the 21st to the 28th of this month (closed on Sundays and Mondays). The opening ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. on the 24th at the Jungnang Art Center.
Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “This exhibition will be a valuable opportunity to showcase the creativity and artistic potential of disabled artists. I hope it will serve as a chance for disabled and non-disabled people to communicate through art and for disabled artists to participate more actively in the local community.” He added, “I ask for the enthusiastic interest of Jungnang residents in this meaningful exhibition.”
