Nowon District Mayor Oh Seung-rok Conducts Initial Electric Vehicle Fire Response Training with Nowon Fire Station

Nowon-gu (Mayor Oh Seung-rok) conducted an 'Electric Vehicle Fire Risk Initial Response Training' for apartment complexes at the Nowon-gu Office on the 20th, holding two sessions at 2 PM and 4 PM.

About 300 participants took part in the training, including apartment facility safety managers, safety officers, security guards, building representatives, and residents who wished to join.

First, at the district office auditorium (2nd floor), Fire Captain Choi Jin-guk from Nowon Fire Station gave a lecture on the risks and response methods related to electric vehicle fires. Then, at the new building parking lot, a fire scenario was simulated using an actual vehicle, and residents received hands-on training on the use of the fire suppression agent most inquired about, the extinguishing foam.

The training demonstrated not only the use of the extinguishing foam but also various initial response methods residents can utilize before the fire station arrives in case of an electric vehicle fire. In particular, participants practiced manual sprinkler operation using a model as if in a real situation, and engaged in practical exercises such as heat suppression using fire hydrants.

Meanwhile, in August, the district held an 'Emergency Apartment Complex Meeting on Electric Vehicle Fires,' where it announced plans to support extinguishing foam through ordinance enactment and conducted a demonstration on its use.

Mayor Oh Seung-rok of Nowon-gu said, “We prepared practical scenario-based and hands-on training for swift initial response,” adding, “We will continue to prioritize residents' safety and develop various response measures.”
