On the 21st, heavy autumn rain poured down, leading to a series of 119 emergency calls across Daejeon, Sejong, and Chungnam regions.

From the afternoon of the previous day until 9 a.m. on the 21st, the Chungnam Fire Headquarters received a total of 243 rain-related 119 reports (129 safety measures, 113 drainage support, and 1 rescue operation).

At around 2:18 a.m. on the day, a report was received about a lodging container near a greenhouse facility in Susin-myeon, Dongnam-gu, Cheonan, Chungnam, being flooded. The dispatched fire authorities safely rescued Mr. A (63), who was trapped due to the overflow of a nearby drainage channel. About an hour earlier, a submerged passenger car on a road in Sinbu-dong was handed over to the police. The driver had evacuated in advance.

In the northern Chungnam west coast area, including Seosan-si, where 99.1mm of rain fell within an hour, damage occurred in various places due to the combination of high tide and heavy rain. At 5:01 p.m. the previous day, a report was received that seawater had overflowed the embankment and flooded the first floor of a commercial building in Buseok-myeon, Seosan-si, causing people to be trapped.

Residents, including merchants, evacuated on their own, so there were no casualties. The fire authorities completed drainage support and safety measures. From 10:20 p.m. the previous day, over about five hours, 49 flood reports were received in Seosan alone, including commercial buildings, apartments, hotels, houses, warehouses, and roads.

In Daejeon, as of 9 a.m. on the day, 50 rain damage reports were received consecutively. The fire authorities deployed 52 pieces of equipment, including ambulances, and 208 personnel to carry out safety measures, drainage support, and rescue operations. Around 4 a.m., a report was received that the first floor of a multi-family house in Seongnam-dong, Dong-gu, Daejeon, was flooded and rainwater was backflowing into the house.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, a heavy rain advisory is currently in effect for the entire areas of Daejeon, Sejong, and Chungnam. Very heavy rain is forecast until the evening, increasing the risk of flooding in low-lying areas and safety accidents, so caution is required.

The accumulated rainfall from the previous day until 10:10 a.m. on the day was recorded as 264.9mm in Seosan, 264.5mm in Daejeon (Jeongnim), and 194.9mm in Hongseong.
