Jeonnam Office of Education Shines at the '2024 National Disabled Students e-Festival'

Awards in Information Contest and eSports Categories

The Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education announced on the 20th that Jeonnam students achieved excellent results at the '2024 National Disabled Students e-Festival' held at The-K Hotel.


The 'National Disabled Students e-Festival' is jointly hosted by the National Institute of Special Education, the Korea Creative Content Agency, and Netmarble Cultural Foundation to enhance the informatization skills of disabled students and expand their e-sports experience, with support from the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

This year, 22 students from Jeonnam participated, including 10 in the Information Competition and 12 in the e-sports competition, competing against students from special schools nationwide who passed the preliminary rounds.


In the Information Competition, notable achievements included: Kim Yeji from Hampyeong Yeonghwa School winning the Excellence Award in the Hangul Word Processor category; Kim Daewoong from Hampyeong Yeonghwa School receiving the Encouragement Award in the Internet Search category; and Kim Dohyun from Eunkwang School earning the Encouragement Award in the Excel category.


In the e-sports competition, awards were given as follows: Kim Jun and Seo Jaehyuk from Gwangyang Haetsal School won the Grand Prize in the Nintendo Switch Volleyball category; Jo Byeongjun and No Yeonhee from Eunkwang School received the Encouragement Award in the Othello category; Yang Jaeseong and Choi Gwangchan from Naju Jungang Elementary School earned the Encouragement Award in the Everyone's Marble category; and Jang Onyu from Gwangyang Haetsal School was awarded the Fair Play Award in the Switch Bowling category.


Students participating in this event experienced various cultural activities such as edutech experiences, immersive events including rowing machines and Nintendo bowling, an amazing magic show, and K-pop idol performances.


Lee Jihyun, Director of Secondary Education, said, “Through this competition, we were able to see the passion and outstanding skills of Jeonnam students,” adding, “We will continue to support disabled students so they can excel in various fields.”
