Youth Festival and Performances Held on the 28th-29th
Yongsan-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Park Hee-young) will hold a diverse range of events for youth called "Yongsan Youth Week" across the district for five days from the 25th to the 29th in celebration of the 8th Youth Day. The purpose is to create an opportunity to listen to the voices of young people, share policies, and mutually encourage each other.
This year’s commemorative events will be held as an interactive comprehensive festival including ▲Youth Employment Special Lecture ▲Employment and Startup Fair ▲Youth Festival ▲Youth Street Performances (Busking), expanding beyond the previous single youth festival.
The Youth Employment Special Lecture will take place on the 25th at 7:30 PM at the Yongsan Dream Tree Complex Town Dream Tree Theater (Baekbeom-ro 329, 5th floor) and will last about 1 hour and 30 minutes. Author Song Gil-young, who wrote "Era Forecast: The Age of the Nuclear Individual," will be the lecturer.
Mr. Song, a big data utilization expert with over 20 years of experience, is expected to provide deep insights and practical advice to prepare for the future. Participation applications will be accepted online on a first-come, first-served basis for 150 people. Remaining seats will be available for on-site attendance.
On the 26th and 27th, in co-hosting with Sookmyung Women’s University Campus Town Project Group, an Employment and Startup Fair will be held. This fair, set up at Sookmyung Women’s University Snowflake Plaza Hall, will be divided into two sections: ▲Employment Zone and ▲Startup Zone, where recruitment and job counseling, on-site interview experiences, and startup expert consultations are expected to take place. Additional events such as ▲Image Consulting and ▲Personal Color Diagnosis for employment preparation are also planned.
On Saturday the 28th, from noon to 6 PM, the youth festival "Happy Happy Yongsan Train" will be held at the US military return site Yongsan Park Officer’s Quarters Complex 5. The youth festival will feature ▲Ceremony and Performances ▲Experience Booths ▲Sales Booths ▲Food Trucks ▲Commemorative Photos (Photo Zone), among others.
The main stage will host the ceremony along with performances by ▲Lady B Women’s Dance Team ▲Singer Woody ▲Mongjakso Project, an acoustic band, a traditional Korean music ensemble, and a special lecture by Choi Seol-min (operator of the YouTube channel "Learning Psychology While Playing").
The experience booths are themed around time travel through the past, present, and future. Visitors can enjoy various stress-relieving activities, policy promotions, and a policy proposal corner where youth can suggest desired policies. At 15 sales booths including Yongsan social economy enterprises, Sookmyung Women’s University Campus Town resident companies, and youth food trucks, various products and food items will be available.
On the last day, the 29th, from 1 to 2 PM, a street art performance team composed of young people will perform around the Itaewon Antique Furniture Street area.
District Mayor Park Hee-young said, “I hope this Yongsan Youth Week event will be a time for young people to realize their dreams and communicate with the local community,” adding, “We will continue to listen closely to the diverse voices of youth, who are the pillars of the future, and reflect them in district administration.”
Youth Day is a legal commemorative day established to raise awareness of the importance of guaranteeing youth rights and youth development, and to increase interest in youth issues. It is observed annually on the third Saturday of September.
