Mercury, a specialized information and communication equipment company, announced on the 20th that it is promoting a physical division to establish a new corporation for its optical communication business division.
Mercury resolved a board meeting agenda the day before to physically divide the optical communication business division into a new corporation. The shareholders' meeting to approve the division plan is scheduled for the 30th of next month, and the division date is December 1st.
A Mercury official stated, “Through the physical division of the optical communication business division, the company aims to discover and invest in new businesses with high synergy with the remaining businesses, strengthen competitiveness, and focus the company's capabilities on specialized business areas to enhance corporate value and shareholder value. We also plan to strengthen financial soundness through the physical division of deficit businesses.”
He added, “The new corporation will focus investments on core businesses and, considering market conditions, will seek to strengthen competitiveness and improve financial structure through external investment attraction, strategic business alliances, and technological cooperation when necessary.”
