Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) is operating the ‘Seoul-type Hourly Specialized Daycare Center’ to respond to diversified childcare demands and minimize childcare gaps.

The Seoul-type Hourly Specialized Daycare Center is a childcare service that utilizes the idle spaces of existing daycare centers, allowing hourly use during weekday daytime hours.

Gwangjin-gu has transformed one daycare center, ‘Gwangjin Daycare Center (Jayang 1-dong, Achasan-ro 40-gil 9)’, selected through a Seoul city public contest, into a Seoul-type Hourly Specialized Daycare Center.

Going forward, Gwangjin Daycare Center will complement the existing hourly childcare by expanding operating hours and eligible users, providing broader services to caregivers.

First, the daycare center’s operating hours have been extended by 1 hour and 30 minutes each in the morning and evening, from 7:30 AM to 7:30 PM on weekdays. Caregivers who are unable to take care of their children due to unavoidable circumstances can use the service hourly at a rate of 2,000 KRW per hour, up to 4 hours per day and 60 hours per month.

In particular, the eligible users have been expanded from infants aged 6 to under 36 months to preschool children under 7 years old, allowing any caregiver raising children at home or using other daycare centers to benefit from the service.

Residents wishing to use the Seoul-type Hourly Specialized Daycare Center can apply on the Seoul City Childcare Portal from 14 days to 1 day before the desired date of use. However, for same-day use, applications can be made by phone by 12 PM on the day.

Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “I hope residents actively use the Seoul-type Hourly Specialized Daycare Center, which allows children from infancy to preschool age to be cared for hourly when needed,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to make Gwangjin-gu a safe place to raise children.”
