Regarding the government's designation of October 1st, Armed Forces Day, as a temporary holiday, a survey found that 4 out of 10 adults viewed it positively, while 2 out of 10 viewed it negatively.

On the 19th, PMI announced that a nationwide public opinion survey was conducted targeting 3,000 men and women aged 20 to 69, revealing these results. According to the survey, 40% of respondents had a positive reaction to the temporary holiday designation, with 13% rating it as "very appropriate." Conversely, 22% responded that it was "inappropriate," and the remaining 38% held a neutral stance.

Among respondents who thought the temporary holiday designation was an appropriate measure, the main positive factors cited were "being able to rest," "revitalizing the domestic economy," and "boosting military morale." On the other hand, those who considered the designation inappropriate mentioned reasons such as "too many holidays," "sudden measure," "lack of meaning and necessity," "disruption of plans," and "economic difficulties."

Out of the 3,000 survey respondents, 2,306 were office workers. When asked about working on October 1st, 39% said their company had not yet made a decision. Thirty percent responded that they planned to take a paid holiday, 22% said they would work as usual, and 9% said they would take an unpaid holiday.

Many were also considering their vacation plans. Among the 2,306 office worker respondents, 36% said they had no plans to take a day off on October 1st, the highest proportion. Following that, 31% planned to take only October 1st off. Thirteen percent planned to take three days off including October 1st, and 11% planned to take two days off including October 1st. Opinions on taking four days or seven or more days off including October 1st were each 3%.

When asked how they planned to spend the holiday on October 1st, more than half, 54%, responded that they would "rest at home." Thirteen percent said "plans undecided," 12% said they would "enjoy hobbies," 10% said they would "work that day," 7% planned to travel, and 5% planned to meet with friends or family.

The government previously explained that this temporary holiday designation would contribute to revitalizing the domestic economy. However, judging from the results of this survey, it seems it will be difficult to achieve the expected domestic economic revitalization effect.
