Changwon Deputy Mayor Cho Myungrae Inspects Preparations for Changwon Sculpture Biennale Deputy Mayor Jo Myungrae is conducting an on-site inspection of the preparation status for the 7th Changwon Sculpture Biennale.

Under the theme "A Big Apple in Silence," this year's biennale will be held from the 27th to November 10th, featuring 189 works by 63 teams from 16 countries. The artworks will be showcased at four venues: Seongsan Art Hall, Seongsan Shell Mound, Dongnam Sports Complex, and Changwon Municipal Masan Moonshin Art Museum.

Marking the 50th anniversary of the designation of Changwon National Industrial Complex this year, Changwon City has selected Seongsan Shell Mound and Dongnam Sports Complex, both located within the industrial complex, as exhibition venues. The city expects that visitors will be able to experience the identity of Changwon and its 50-year history through the artworks and programs presented at these locations.

Vice Mayor Jo emphasized to on-site officials, "While inspecting the final preparations for the biennale, I checked the exhibition pieces mainly from the perspective and main routes of the visitors. Please ensure that preparations continue smoothly to maximize the visitors' immersion in the exhibition."

He added, "We will make meticulous preparations until the very end so that the new charm of Changwon, the city of sculpture, can be widely recognized by the many visitors attending this biennale."

Changwon City and the Changwon Cultural Foundation plan to operate shuttle buses connecting the exhibition venues during the event period to enhance visitor convenience.

Meanwhile, the Changwon Sculpture Biennale is the only sculpture biennale in Korea. It began with the Moonshin International Sculpture Symposium in 2010, held in honor of world-renowned sculptor Moonshin, a native of Changwon. Since the first Changwon Sculpture Biennale in 2012 through the sixth edition in 2022, 508 artists from 105 countries have participated, with a cumulative audience of about 460,000 visitors.
