Secure 400 Idolbomi by Year-End, Up from 300
Pohang City has announced plans to significantly expand its child care support services to create a city that is friendly for raising children. As a first step, the city will hire an additional 100 child care workers by the end of this year, increasing the total number from 300 to 400.
In December last year, at the Pohang City Family Center, listening to an explanation about the work contract for idolbomi who will be active in 2024.
Furthermore, the city aims to recruit a total of 1,000 child care workers by 2026. To secure the necessary budget, officials are visiting Gyeongbuk Province and the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family to emphasize the need for expanding the program, putting forth their utmost efforts to push the initiative forward.
The child care support service dispatches trained caregivers to households experiencing temporary gaps in child care due to dual-income parents, business trips, or night shifts.
Children aged from 3 months to 12 years can use the service for at least 2 to 3 hours per day. In Pohang City, around 2,000 children are currently utilizing this service this year.
Those wishing to become child care workers must complete 120 hours of theoretical and practical training, as well as 16 hours of field practice. After finishing the training, candidates must pass a document screening, aptitude test, and final interview to be selected.
Upon recruitment and commencement of activities as a child care worker, the full cost of training can be reimbursed through the Naeil Learning Card program. For information about the training, please contact the Pohang Women's Resources Development Center.

Jung Yeonhak, Head of the Gender Equality and Family Division, stated, "Given the high demand for child care workers, we will do our best to resolve the concentrated demand during school commuting hours as soon as possible. We ask for the active interest and participation of citizens in the expansion of the child care worker program."
