This competition, hosted by the Korea Maritime Institute, the Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology, and the Busan Port Authority, was held under the theme of 'Ideas for Job Creation in the Marine and Fisheries Sector.' Ideas were solicited from the general public and judged directly by a citizen evaluation panel.

The team of Shin Chaeun and Son Jeongmin from Pukyong National University received the grand prize (Minister of Oceans and Fisheries Award) by proposing ideas for job and supporter creation based on the fishing gear deposit system, which has been implemented for the first time in the world by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and the Korea Fisheries Resources Agency since January this year. The prize money is 3 million KRW.

Additionally, Park Sangmin, a fourth-year student majoring in Aquaculture Applied Life Sciences at Pukyong National University, along with Kim Yunhee from Incheon National University and Jeong Yumi from Chungbuk National University, received the Excellence Award (1.5 million KRW) for their proposal on 'Tourism-type On-Demand Transportation Operation,' which considered both the revitalization of Busan North Port and job creation.

Participants in this competition advanced to the finals after passing the first round of document screening and expert mentoring in each field, and the final presentations and selection of winners took place on the 3rd at the Jeju Research Institute of the Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology.

Shin Chaeun, who received the grand prize, said, "I hope that more people will take an interest in the fishing gear deposit system for sustainable fisheries and that it will be successfully implemented."

Son Jeongmin said, "I hope that job creation related to the fishing gear deposit system, which is being implemented from this year, will lead to stable system operation and strengthen the competitiveness of the marine and fisheries sector."
