Providing Stable Housing and Office Spaces for Young Entrepreneurs
Seongbuk-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) is recruiting tenants for 11 units of Dojeonsuk, rental housing for startup entrepreneurs, from the 30th of this month to October 11th.
Dojeonsuk is a mixed-use public rental housing that allows one-person creative entrepreneurs (including prospective startups) to solve both living and office space at once. Meaning "lodging for challengers," Dojeonsuk is a demand-tailored rental housing that provides stable living and office space to young entrepreneurs with weak economic foundations, helping them become independent and grow. Seongbuk-gu has been operating it since signing a business agreement with Seoul City, Seoul Housing & Communities Corporation, and Seoul Regional Small and Medium Business Administration in November 2013.
This second half tenant recruitment includes a total of 11 units: 10 single-person units and 1 couple unit. Since it is cheaper than general rental housing prices, it is expected to reduce the initial financial burden of one-person creative entrepreneurs who are struggling due to rising housing costs.
In addition, Dojeonsuk tenants are supported with various programs such as office space provision, startup capacity-building education, networking among tenant companies, and linkage with public institution projects, contributing to youth job creation and revitalization of the local economy.
Mayor Lee Seung-ro said, "We expect Dojeonsuk to be a driving force for the housing stability and independence foundation of young entrepreneurs," and added, "We will do our best to expand startup infrastructure and support various startup projects so that young people can freely pursue their dreams and passion in Seongbuk-gu."
