CJ OliveNetworks Develops IT Trend-Reflective Curriculum Conducted in Over 30 Schools by Employees
CJ OliveNetworks announced on the 19th that the total number of students who have completed the free coding education program, 'CJ SW Creative Camp,' has surpassed 13,000. Now in its 10th year, the CJ SW Creative Camp runs for up to 15 weeks in connection with the free semester system and after-school classes.
Initially targeting middle school students in the metropolitan area, the program expanded its beneficiary regions to address educational disparities by transitioning to non-face-to-face digital education after COVID-19. So far, it has been conducted in over 30 schools.
Additionally, CJ OliveNetworks employees directly participate in developing curricula that reflect IT trends to help students enhance creativity and logical thinking through coding classes.
The CJ SW Creative Camp helps students engage with coding enjoyably by using LEGO-based Python coding courses to solve social issues in daily life.
Students from Mokpo Hyein Girls' Middle School, who developed an interest in coding through the 2022 CJ SW Creative Camp, have continued to actively participate in both internal and external SW and AI-related activities even after the program ended. They have distinguished themselves in various competitions, including winning the silver prize at the 2nd Jeollanam-do Student SW Convergence Hackathon and participating in the Software Thinking Olympiad.
In the second half of this year, the CJ SW Creative Camp will provide 15 weeks of SW coding education to middle school students residing in new regions such as Jeju City and Sejong City. By introducing new curricula utilizing augmented reality, virtual reality, and ChatGPT, the program aims to support the development of creative thinking while experiencing the latest IT technologies.
A new program called SW School Attack, where employees directly visit and conduct coding classes for IT education-disadvantaged youth such as multicultural, low-income, and newly arrived immigrant adolescents, is also actively underway.
Baek Jae-min, Head of Management Support at CJ OliveNetworks, said, "The CJ SW Creative Camp supports young people in understanding the digital world and provides a foundation for them to grow into future technology talents." He added, "We will continue to offer the latest SW education opportunities to students in various regions."
