Yangcheon-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Gi-jae) announced on the 19th that it will develop the aging, low-rise residential area around 724-1 Mok 4-dong into a small-scale housing maintenance project called Moa Town. Through the Moa Town project, 1,437 housing units are expected to be supplied within the area.
The area around 724-1 Mok 4-dong (covering 52,957㎡) is a low-rise residential area adjacent to Mokdong Apartment Complexes 1 to 4. Since old and new buildings are mixed, large-scale development has been difficult. Reflecting the local infrastructure and residential environment conditions, it was selected in June last year as a target site for the “Seoul City Moa Town Contest.”
With the promotion of this Moa Town project, the area will be transformed from an aging residential district into a large-scale apartment complex with 1,437 units, featuring two basement floors and 27 floors above ground.
The plan includes ▲upgrading the zoning of the project area (from Type 2, Type 2 (7 floors) general to Type 3 general), ▲installation of infrastructure such as the Mok 4-dong Community Service Center, and ▲road expansion (from 6?8m to 8?10m) to respond to increased traffic and improve the pedestrian environment, aiming to enhance the residential environment of the aging low-rise area and improve residents’ quality of life.
The district office will hold a residents’ briefing session at 2 p.m. on the 20th at the district office and plans to accelerate the approval and announcement of the Moa Town management plan through procedures such as the integrated review by Seoul City.
Meanwhile, Yangcheon-gu is actively carrying out Moa Town maintenance projects in a total of four areas to improve the residential environment of aging low-rise residential areas. In particular, the areas around 102-33 Sinwol 1-dong and 173 Sinwol 3-dong have been finally designated and announced as small-scale housing maintenance management areas with legal effect as Moa Towns. The area around 231 Mok 2-dong was conditionally selected in the Seoul City Moa Town Contest on the 3rd and is preparing to establish a management plan.
The area around 455-1 Sinwol 2-dong held a residents’ briefing session on the 12th following the submission of the Moa Town contest application and is preparing to apply for the Seoul City Moa Town Contest.
Mayor Lee Gi-jae said, “Through this Moa Town project, we plan to supply quality housing in the aging low-rise residential area and improve it into a pleasant residential environment,” adding, “Since there have been continuous development requests from residents, we will actively support the smooth progress of the Moa Town project.”
