From September 20, vaccination for children eligible for 2 doses begins, and from October 2, vaccination for children eligible for 1 dose and pregnant women will be available... Free vaccination available; designated vaccination medical institutions can be checked at Seongdong-gu Public Health Center and the Vaccination Helper website
Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeong Won-oh) will begin free seasonal influenza (flu) vaccinations starting September 20.
The free influenza vaccination targets children aged 6 months to 13 years old (born between January 1, 2011, and August 31, 2024) and pregnant women.
From September 20, vaccinations will be administered to children requiring two doses (children 8 years old or younger who have no prior vaccination history or have only received one dose). From October 2, vaccinations will be available for pregnant women and children requiring one dose (children aged 9 and older and those who have previously received two or more doses).
Designated medical institutions where free influenza vaccinations are available can be checked on the Seongdong-gu Public Health Center website and the Vaccination Helper website. Vaccinations can also be received at designated medical institutions nationwide regardless of the address.
To prepare for the pertussis outbreak, the Seongdong-gu Public Health Center has been providing pertussis vaccinations to pregnant women (27 to 36 weeks gestation) since August 1. Vaccinating pregnant women transfers antibodies to the fetus, protecting both the mother and the baby from pertussis until the baby receives their own pertussis vaccination at 2 months of age.
Jeong Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, stated, "As we enter the fall season, there are concerns about the resurgence of COVID-19 and influenza. We hope that vaccines will help prevent the flu. Since vaccination schedules differ by target group, please check the precautions before visiting."
