Jeonju City and Village Bus Drivers Draw Attention with 'Hanbok Day'

On the occasion of the traditional Korean holiday Chuseok, city and village bus drivers in Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do, attracted attention by wearing hanbok and sharing warm greetings with passengers.

According to Jeonju City on the 18th, during the five-day Chuseok holiday from the 14th to the 18th, about 200 city and village bus drivers in Jeonju wore hanbok and operated buses as part of the 'Hanbok Day' event.

From the 14th to the 18th, around 200 drivers of Jeonju city buses and village buses wore hanbok to greet passengers during the 'Hanbok Day' event, receiving great responses from citizens and tourists.

Hanbok Day is an event promoted by Jeonju City, known as the 'most Korean city,' since 2021 to provide emotional experiences to Jeonju citizens, returning visitors, and tourists during the holiday season.

The drivers wore hanbok while driving, and those without their own hanbok borrowed them from their affiliated companies to participate in the event.

One driver who participated in Hanbok Day said, "These days, people rarely wear hanbok even during holidays, but driving the bus wearing hanbok during this Chuseok holiday was rewarding because passengers greeted me with warm smiles."

Shim Gyu-moon, Director of Public Transportation Bureau of Jeonju City, said, "In modern society, where the proportion of single-person households is gradually increasing and family interactions are decreasing, thanks to the drivers who voluntarily wore hanbok while working, we were able to gift the holiday atmosphere to citizens and convey warm feelings."
