Singer Yu Yeol (63), who revealed last year that he was battling pulmonary fibrosis, is reportedly recovering his health after recently undergoing a lung transplant surgery. The widely spread rumors of his death have been proven false.

On the 17th, Spotv News reported that Yu Yeol successfully underwent a lung transplant surgery recently. It was once known that his voice was not coming out well, but now he is able to converse without discomfort. Lee Doo-heon, a member of the folk group Daseot Songarak who is close to Yu Yeol, also wrote on social media a short while ago, "Brother Yu Yeol called me for the first time after his lung transplant surgery. His voice has returned to how it was before."

In November last year, on the YouTube channel ‘Eden Church 0691TV,’ Yu Yeol went up to the church pulpit and confessed his pulmonary fibrosis. He was introduced as a preacher, having been active as a singer and radio DJ. He said, "I started noticing abnormal health signals six years ago. I developed vocal cord issues and pulmonary fibrosis, and later also suffered from pneumonia. It was a sudden diet. As a singer and radio DJ, breathing was difficult, I had coughing, and my throat was itchy, so speaking and singing were not easy." This disease is characterized by damage to alveolar cells, excessive production and accumulation of fibroblasts, and hardening (fibrosis) of lung tissue.

In November 2023, singer Yoo Yeol appeared as a pastor in a video on the YouTube channel 'Eden Church 0691TV,' revealing his battle with pulmonary fibrosis.

Afterwards, unverified fake news claiming Yu Yeol had died spread randomly online. The ‘Eden Church 0691TV’ side warned earlier this month, "This is fake news. Yu Yeol is recovering healthily. Spreading false and defamatory information can be legally punished."

Yu Yeol debuted in 1986 by winning the grand prize at the MBC College Music Festival. He won the Singer of the Year award at the 2005 KBS Music Awards. In the mid-2000s, he established the performance production company Yu Yeol Company and also worked as a musical producer.
