Planned Use for Procurement of Relief Supplies and Relief Activities
SK Group will provide $300,000 (approximately 400 million KRW) to support local recovery efforts in Vietnam, which has suffered significant damage due to a typhoon.
On the 16th, SK Group expressed its intention to donate funds to the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and announced on the 18th that the support funds will be delivered within this month. The funds will be used for procuring and delivering relief supplies and conducting relief activities in Vietnam, where the number of casualties continues to rise.
Recently, northern Vietnam has been severely affected by Typhoon Yagi, recorded as the worst typhoon in 30 years, followed by successive landslides and floods causing extensive damage.
Ji Dong-seop, Chairman of the SV Committee at SK Supex Council, said, "No words can comfort the Vietnamese residents who have lost their families and homes due to the disaster," adding, "We hope to provide even a small support to help Vietnamese residents return to their daily lives as soon as possible."
Vietnam is a country with which SK has maintained a relationship for the past 30 years, establishing strong cooperation in various fields. SK Group continues strategic collaboration with Vingroup, Vietnam's largest company, and Masan Group, the largest local food and beverage distribution company. Since 1996, SK has been providing free surgeries for children with facial deformities in Vietnam annually, giving new faces and smiles to over 4,300 children.
Previously, SK Group actively engaged in recovery and relief efforts for domestic and international disaster-affected areas, including donating $1 million for emergency relief for child refugees due to the Ukraine war in 2022, $1 million for recovery from the earthquake damage in T?rkiye last year, and 2 billion KRW for large-scale wildfires in the Gangneung area of Gangwon Province.
