Gyeonggi-do Conducts Safety Inspections of Hydrogen Refueling Stations... 28 Cases 'Detected'

Gyeonggi-do is conducting safety inspections of hydrogen charging stations.

Gyeonggi Province conducted a joint public-private safety inspection on four hydrogen charging stations within the province and identified 28 issues, including fire extinguishers with insufficient pressure and concerns about grounding short circuits.

Gyeonggi Province announced on the 18th that, due to concerns about safety accidents among residents following recent lithium battery fires, it carried out inspections on four of the 31 hydrogen charging stations in the province from the 26th to the 30th of last month through a joint public-private inspection team to prevent safety accidents at commercial hydrogen charging stations.

As a result of the inspection, Station A in Gimpo City did not mark the pressure gauge with a band indicating the appropriate pressure range, and some brackets securing the hydrogen gas pipes had fallen off, raising concerns about gas leaks. Station B in Goyang City lacked grounding conduits installed on the floor, posing a risk of short circuits, and had fire extinguishers below the proper pressure level.

Of the 28 cases, Gyeonggi Province notified the relevant cities and counties to take prompt corrective administrative actions for 15 cases. Additionally, three cases were corrected on-site, and 10 cases received guidance and recommendations. To prevent similar incidents, Gyeonggi Province plans to disseminate the inspection results to all 31 cities and counties.

Kim Young-gil, head of Gyeonggi Province’s Special Safety Inspection Team, stated, "To prevent accidents caused by poor facility management in advance, we will continue to identify inspection targets and strive to make Gyeonggi a safe province for its residents."
