Gwangju Mayor Kang Gi-jung, who is the head of emergency medical management in Gwangju Metropolitan City, visited the Gwangju Regional Emergency Medical Center at Chonnam National University Hospital on the 17th, Chuseok day, to inspect the emergency medical site.

The visit to Chonnam National University Hospital was carried out to oversee the emergency medical sites during the Chuseok holiday period and to check the emergency medical system and emergency treatment measures.

On this day, Mayor Kang, along with National Assembly member Jeon Jin-sook, the director of the psychiatric hospital at Chonnam National University Hospital, Deputy Director of Medical Affairs Yoon Kyung-chul, Planning and Coordination Office Director Joo Sung-pil, Emergency Medical Center Director Lee Byung-guk, Secretary-General Kim Young-min, and Head Nurse Choi Myung-i, discussed the operation status of the regional emergency medical center, the current status and measures for accepting emergency patients, and then encouraged the medical staff working at the emergency medical center even during Chuseok.

Chonnam National University Hospital is operating an emergency medical emergency duty system, including deploying additional specialists compared to previous holidays, to ensure there are no disruptions in emergency patient treatment during the Chuseok holiday.

Mayor Kang especially expressed repeated gratitude to the medical staff who are devoted on-site to protect citizens' lives despite extreme fatigue caused by the influx of patients to the regional emergency medical center.

Mayor Kang stated, “With residents (junior doctors) absent, the medical staff at Chonnam National University Hospital’s emergency medical center are reaching their limits and it must be difficult, but they endure with a sense of duty to protect citizens' lives. Gwangju City will also spare no necessary support so that sick citizens can receive treatment with peace of mind.”
