Contacted colleague's mother after checking SNS... "Probed"
Author: "Colleague woman probably doesn't even know what she did wrong"
Netizens: "This is stalking, no doubt" Fierce criticism
On the 15th, a post titled "Yesterday's Chaos: Stalking by an Accounting Staff at a Small and Medium Enterprise" was uploaded on an online community.
According to the content, the author, Mr. A, said, "Earlier before leaving work, I asked the company accountant what she was doing for Chuseok," and "She said she was going on a group trip to Gangneung with her paternal relatives, so I told her to have a good trip," he began. He continued, "When I got home and checked this person's Instagram, I saw a story about booking train tickets, and it looked like two people were going," adding, "One account was tagged, but I don't know the gender."
He said, "Since it seemed like they were definitely going on a trip together, I had her mother's contact information (I had contacted her a few times before for work-related matters), so I sent a text asking, but she said there was no family trip planned," and "I thought she lied to me, so I was going to say something but just let it go."
He then expressed anger, saying, "About an hour later, I got a KakaoTalk message from the accountant, who was furious asking if I had texted her mother," and "I had a lot to say but held back and just apologized."
Later, Mr. A posted a new post attaching screenshots of KakaoTalk messages with the colleague. The colleague said in the message, "Did you contact my mother earlier by any chance?" and although she didn't know how he got the contact information, she added, "I hope you don't make such contacts in the future. I was very embarrassed after hearing about this."
She also expressed discomfort, saying, "Going on a trip during Chuseok is a personal matter, so I don't understand why you asked." In response, Mr. A replied, "I saw on Instagram that it looked like the two of you were going, but since you said it was a trip with relatives, I found it strange and asked," and "I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable." Additionally, the post included, "When she snapped at me as if accusing me of something, I wanted to fight back but just let it go. She probably doesn't even know what she did wrong."
Users pointed out Mr. A's behavior as stalking. As the post spread across various communities, netizens who read it also responded with comments such as "People like that eventually become criminals," "The author should go to a hospital," "Why would you be curious whether someone goes on a trip or not," and "It's obviously stalking, but he doesn't even realize his behavior is stalking."
