Hydrogen Supercar 'N Vision 74' Officially Confirmed for Mass Production
Hyundai Motor Company will become the world's first to produce a supercar powered by hydrogen fuel. Equipped with a high-performance 570 kW motor, it is expected to surpass internal combustion engine supercars such as Ferrari's 'Roma' and Lamborghini's 'Huracan'.
According to the automotive industry on the 16th, Hyundai recently held the '2024 CEO Investor Day' for investors and announced the launch of 21 electrified products by 2030. The presentation screen at the time mentioned the hydrogen supercar 'N Vision 74' alongside Genesis's high-performance trim Magma.
N Vision 74 is a hydrogen supercar concept that Hyundai introduced two years ago. Hyundai internally assigned the code name ‘N74’ to the production model of N Vision 74. It is known that the production of a performance verification 'T-car' (trial car) has now begun.
The N74, expected to be equipped with a high-performance 570 kW motor, will be manufactured with a rear-wheel-drive system combining hydrogen fuel cells and the high-performance motor. Considering the motor performance, the output is expected to exceed 775 horsepower. The zero-to-100 km/h acceleration time (zero to sixty mph) is said to be in the 3-second range, comparable to supercars with internal combustion engines.
Although the exterior design of the N74 has not yet been publicly revealed, it is known to retain the lines of the N Vision 74, which swept the world's four major design awards (iF, IDEA, Red Dot, Good Design). N Vision 74 was praised for its design, which is a modern interpretation of the 'Pony Coupe' that Hyundai introduced in 1974. The N74 is planned as a coupe (two-seater) featuring two 'gullwing doors' (doors that open upwards), befitting a supercar.
Hyundai Motor Group plans to produce only 200 units of the N74 over two years. The automotive industry expects the vehicle price to be around 500 million KRW.
