Musk Asks "Why No Assassination Attempts on Biden and Harris?"... Deletes Post Amid Controversy

White House "Irresponsible... Violence Should Not Be a Subject of Jokes"

Amid the second assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate, Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, posted a controversial comment suggesting it was strange that there were no assassination attempts on Democratic candidates Vice President Kamala Harris or President Joe Biden, and later deleted the post.

According to the US daily The New York Times (NYT) on the 16th (local time), Musk wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) account after the assassination attempt on former President Trump, "No one is trying to assassinate Biden or Kamala," accompanied by a thinking face emoji.

After the post sparked public outrage, Musk immediately deleted it. He then posted a clarification saying, "One of the lessons I have learned is that just because people laugh at something I say doesn’t mean it makes for a funny post on X." He also added, "It turns out that jokes aren’t so funny when the text is delivered without context."

The White House condemned Musk’s post as irresponsible. White House Deputy Press Secretary Andrew Bates stated, "Violence should be condemned and never encouraged or made the subject of jokes."

Musk has previously declared his support for former President Trump in this presidential election.

Earlier, former President Trump was shot at during a rally in Pennsylvania in July, and on the 15th, he was exposed to an armed man pointing a gun at him at his golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida. It is reported that former President Trump did not sustain any significant injuries.
